The Badgers travel to Lincoln to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 am.  TV  coverage is on BTN.  The Badgers are 7-2, ranked 15th and still in the running for the Big Ten West though they are still 2 games behind the Gophers.  Wisconsin did not get the help they needed from Penn State who surprisingly lost to the ground squirrels.  Now, just after beating Iowa we have to cheer for the Hawkeyes to beat Minnesota.  And of course we have to take care of business against Nebraska who comes into the game 4-5 and losers of their last 3.  The Badgers are 9-4 against Nebraska and winner of the last 6.  The Huskers head coach is Scott Frost, former head man at UCF.  His record at Nebraska is 8-13.  Frost was the starting quarterback for Tom Osborn’s 1997 Nebraska team that split the national championship with the University of Michigan.  Nebraska plays its home games at Memorial Stadium, where it has sold out every game since 1962.  The Husker mascots are Herbie Husker and Lil Red.

The 16th ranked Badgers take on the 18th ranked Hawkeyes this Saturday at Camp Randall at 3:00 pm.  The Badgers are 6-2 and have lost 2 in a row.  Iowa is also 6-2 and have won their last 2.  The game is televised on Fox.  The Badgers may very well have to win out to take the Big Ten West as the Gophers have a two game lead on them.  Minnesota takes on 5th ranked Penn State Saturday and the Badgers could use some help from the Nittany Lions.  The Badgers have an overall lead of 47-43-2 in their rivalry with the Hawkeyes.  Wisconsin has won the last three.

On the heels of a very disappointing loss to Illinois the 13th ranked Badgers travel to Columbus to face the 3rd ranked Buckeyes.  The game is at 11:00 CST and tv coverage will be on FOX.  The Badgers are now 6-1 and no longer in first place in the Big Ten West.  Ohio State leads the series 59-18-5 and have won the last 6.  Following Urban Meyer’s retirement Ryan Day the Buckeyes offensive coordinator became the head man for Ohio State and they haven’t missed a beat.  It will take the Badger’s best game to beat the Buckeyes who have outscored their opponents this year 348 to 56.  Ohio State has a total of 8 national championships with five of those coming under Woody Hayes.  Brutus Buckeye is the Ohio State mascot and Buckeye Battle Cry is the fight song.  The stickers on the Buckeye’s helmets are green Buckeye leaves on a solid white circle and are given as awards after games by coaches and teams captains to players for outstanding performances in plays during games.

The 6th ranked 6-0 Badgers take their show on the road this Saturday facing Illinois in Champaign at 11:00 am.  TV coverage is on BTN.  The Badgers are coming off a very convincing win over Michigan State and they are tied for first in the Big Ten West with the Gophers.  Illinois is 0-3 in the conference and 2-4 overall.  Did you know that Illinois had 5 national championships in football (four before 1928 and one in 1951).  They are currently coached by Lovie Smith who is 11-31 overall at Champaign.  He was the Bears head  coach for eight years.  He was a two time All-American at linebacker and defensive back.  The Badgers lead this series 42-37-7 and have a nine game winning streak against the Illini.  QB Brandon Peters who transferred from Michigan t0 Illinois missed last weeks game against Michigan and it is unknown if he is available for Saturdays game against Wisconsin.  Dick Butkus and Jim Grabowski are among the notable Illini players.  Illinois currently does not have an official mascot since  the University of Illinois retired Chief Illiniwek in 2007, with his last official performance on February 21, 2007.  A road win would be a good way to go into the following weeks matchup with the Buckeyes.

The   8th ranked Badges take on Michigan State at Camp Randall this Saturday at 2:30 pm.  This is the 5th straight home game for Bucky (next week it’s on the road) and they are 5-0 while the Spartans are 4-2 following their loss to Ohio State.  The Spartans lead the series 30-23 but the Badgers won the last game between the two at East Lansing.  MSU’s head coach is Mark Dantonio who is in his 13th season as head man with an overall record of 111-52.  Did you known that Michigan State was not always the Spartans?  They were known as the Aggies when they were the Michigan Agricultural College.  Did you know that the most well-known bar in East Lansing is known best for its wide selection of beer and its famous half-pound crunchy burger?  The Spartans mascot is of course Sparty but did you know that notable alumni includes James Caan of Godfather fame?

The Badgers continue to have the best defense in the country and became the first team since since Virginia Tech in 2001 to record three shutouts in their first five games.  They are the only FSB team that has never trailed this season.  JT scored 5 touchdowns against Kent State tying a school record.  He passed Melvin Gordon for third on the all time rushing list and has 16 total touchdowns so far this year.  He is rushing for nearly 140 yds per game.  GO BADGERS!!!!!!!

After starting the season on the road the Badgers are at home for the third consecutive game against the Kent State Golden Flashes.  Kent State is in Kent, Ohio and is a member of the Mid American Conference East Division.  The game is at Camp Randall and it’s an 11:00 start.  The Badgers come in 4-0 and ranked 8th in the country.  They are allowing just 7.3 points per game and the defense is ranked #1 overall.   Kent State comes in at 2-2 with wins over Kennesaw State and Bowling Green.  Their losses were to Auburn and Arizona State.  Their 2018 record was 2-10.   Did you know their head coach, Sean Lewis, is a former Badger having played here in 2004-2007.  Did you know that Nick Saban and Lou Holtz both played at Kent State?  Did you know the Kent State Mascot is the Golden Eagle, Flash?  Did you know that Regent Liquor has all of your game day supplies?

Badgers vs. Northwestern   no comments

Following their dominating win over Michigan the Badgers take on Northwestern at the Camp on Saturday at 11:00 am.  Wisconsin comes in at 3-0 and the Wildcats are 1-2 with a win over UNLV and losses to Stanford and Michigan State.  Bucky will be without both starting safeties (Eric Burrell and Reggie Pearson) for the first half as a result of targeting calls.  Jack Coan has been impressive and JT has been JT.    Against Northwestern the Badger are 59-36-5 overall.  The first game between the two was played in 1890.  Pat Fitzgerald, who is in his 14th season as the Wildcats head coach, was an All American middle linebacker at NU.  Last year Wisconsin lost to Northwester 31-17.  Did you know that Northwestern played in the first major college football game to be played in only one direction (vs. Illinois at Wrigley Field, 2010)?  Did you know that Northwestern played in the first Big Ten night game vs Purdue in 1935?  Did you know that even before the Wildcats became the official school nickname for NU, a caged live bear cub named Furpaw was the team’s mascot? In 1923,  however, the team had a bad season and decided the mascot was bad luck.  During the following season, the nickname Wildcats was officially adopted by the university after the team’s defense was described as a “wall of Purple wildcats”  Did you know that the Badgers will continue their winning ways by starting the season 4-0 with a win over the Wildcats?

In a very big game early in the season the Badgers take on the Michigan Wolverines this Saturday at 11:00 am at Camp Randall.  Wisconsin enters the game after a bye week following their solid win against Central Michigan.  The Badgers are ranked 13th in the AP poll.  They have outscored their first two opponents 110-0.   Michigan also comes in off a bye week with a 2-0 record.  Their wins came against Middle Tennessee and an overtime win against  Army.  The Wolverines are ranked 11th in the poll.   Michigan leads the series 51-15-1.  Harbaugh is in his 5th season at Michigan and has a record of 40-14 with a bowl record of 1-3.  Did you know that Harbaug’s older brother John is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens?   Did you know that Harbaugh appeared as a cowboy in the western/science fiction show The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr?  Did you know that President Ford was a star center and linebacker at Michigan?  Did you know the Badgers are going to beat Michigan on the 21st?

The Badgers face the Central Michigan Chippewas in their home opener at Camp Randall on Saturday at 2:30 pm.  Central Michigan is coached by Jim McElwain who is in his first year.  He previously was the head coach at Florida and before that Colorado State.  Before that he was the offensive coordinator at Alabama.  Last year the Chippewas were 1-11 overall.  They play in the Mid American Conference.  Probably not a real well know fact is that J.J. Watt began his collegiate career at Central Michigan as a tight end before he walked on at Wisconsin.  Central Michigan is coming in off a 38-21 win at home against Albany? The Badgers and JT hope to repeat their very strong performance against South Florida. Kickoff is at 2:30.
